If you’re here, you’re probably a photographer. Hi, I’m a photographer too! I’d love to second shoot or associate for you.
why you want me
• I will make your day easier! When seconding, half my job is getting great photos, and the other half is making your day go smoother so YOU can get great photos
• I’m all about wrangling wedding parties, carrying gear, being a voice-activated light stand, and most importantly, getting you water. Because, seriously, wedding photographers are a dehydrated bunch
• I also come armed with bad jokes (is that a selling point?)
• I have a ton of gear – all the lenses, and some fun lights – my gear is your gear when working together
• Proficient in OCF and bounce lighting, great with natural light, and a lover of dark spaces and wide apertures
• Knowledge of film photography – perhaps a little rusty, but good to go after a refresher course
• Since I have over 10 years wedding experience, I am always ready to step in as primary in the case of emergency
how I shoot
• Emotions are my favorite thing. Crying, laughing, I’m there for it
• I’m also super excited about dance floors – maybe it’s the music photographer in me, but I love a good dance party
• My favorite lens is the 85L because of its beautiful creamy bokeh, but you can usually find me pairing it with a 35mm. In general, I prefer primes
• You may find me hiding behind a plant or corner or amongst the guests, so I can add depth and layers to the photo (also, I’m an introvert, so it’s natural for me to want to hide behind things, what can I say?)
• In an ideal world, I would shoot nothing but photojournalism and natural light, but I am a realist who can pose clients like a boss and use OCF or video light without breaking a sweat
why I want you
• I recently moved to the Nashville area – Gallatin, specifically – from Chicago, and don’t plan to do photography full-time, but I don’t want to give up shooting completely. (After years of hustle, I just am ready to slow down a bit and see my family again!)
• My dream is to have a great relationship with a just few photographers and be their go-to second/associate, so you like to work with the same person all season, hit me up!
• Even when my calendar was overflowing with weddings, I would try to make time to second with other photographers. It’s something I enjoy doing – it’s great way to be creative and learn new things!
was that not enough info?
Want to know what other types of things I’ve done? Geez, you’re nosey. But okay…
To throw it way back, I have an English education degree, which while not photo-related exactly, has given me unique skills. Basically, I kept gang members and middle schoolers engaged for 8 hours a day every day for three years, so drunk groomsmen are no match for me. While in college and during my teaching career, I shot music photography. Live music, promos, etc – I did it all, and went to 2-3 concerts a week. I shot for a few outlets and even had a spin.com column for a bit. Eventually I moved on from teaching and began full-time photography work as the campus photographer at a small university in the suburbs of Chicago. While honing my corporate and brand photography skills, I shot a wedding for a friend as a favor and loved it. A year later, I began working for myself and we all know how it goes from there.
